'73 UPDATE 3

THE LAST CARD OF ONE OF THE GREATEST.

THE FIRST CARD OF THE GOOSE.
What I lacked getting in quantity I made up for in quality at the weekend card show at the Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach.

Sports Cards Plus wasn't at the show, so I knew I wouldn't be able to put a dent in the numerous high-numbers I need to finish the '73 set. However, I went to another dealer who offers a lot of well-priced high-quality vintage cards; he's the same guy I purchased the trio of '71s from last month. He normally doesn't disappoint and he didn't Saturday.

I knocked off one of the last big-name stars (No. 305 Willie Mays) and one of the last big-name rookies (No. 174 Rich Gossage). I also eliminated one high-number: No. 545 Orlando Cepeda.

All in all, a productive Hall of Fame haul. I also made a few other purchases I'll share on Wednesday.
