COMMON VALOR: 1982 TOPPS GARTH IORG

This a color-coordinated package of baseball card perfection: hitter pointed right, bat left in perfect symmetry during a bunt attempt.

This card screams "summer'' and "baseball'' and "doctor's handwriting.''

Garth -- who played nine years, all for the Blue Jays -- was the younger brother of Dane -- who played 10 seasons for four teams.

While this card drips with style, if you ever saw Garth bat, you wouldn't say the same about his stance. He went into a severe lean on his back (right) foot with his front barely touching the clay. His hands were near the top of his helmet, chin tucked into his left arm.

Let's just say he wasn't the model for the MLB logo.

However, this is a model piece of No. 518 cardboard.
